not able to get navigation working was created by Todd Williams
I am new to K2 so please be patient.

I have searched the community and the web and cannot find an answer. I assume I have not set up K2/Joomla options correctly.

I can see navigation in Joomla articles, but I cannot see it in K2 articles. I have made sure that navigation is turned on in main categories, sub categories, and in the item. But to no avail. I have also tested on three templates (one i bought, beez and protostar) articles. The same result in all three:
Native Joomla: Yes,
K2 no.

Where do I look now?

Cheers,
Todd Williams

Hi. What do you mean when you write "navigation" ?

My understanding is that in K2 (as in Joomla) you can have article navigation that includes "next" and "prev" buttons at the bottom of an article/item.

In Joomla, these are controlled in with the "navigation" settings in the Setup (under "Articles-->Articles-->Show Navigation"), menus and articles (under "Option->Show Navigation").

In K2, the only controls I can find for this are at the category and item level (Under "Item view options-->Item navigation") and nothing in the general setup.

I also forgot to mention versions:
Joomla: 3.3.6
K2:2.6.8

Does that help?

Cheers,
Todd Williams

You are right. That's the option for this. You can enable this in the item's category page. Just ensure that the category is not inheriting parameters from an other one. If still it is not displayed, then there might be an issue with your K2 overrides.

I have done nothing to the K2 overrides. Note this does not work in the "standard templates either.

The category is the highest level (no parent).

Where else is it controled?

Inheritance does not have to with the category level. There is a separate drop down field in the category edit page. This is the one you need to check. You can also try to change other options ( like "Title" ) and see if the changes are reflected. Finally note that navigation will only work for items in the same category. If this is the only item in this category it is normal that navigation is not displayed.

You are being very helpful and patient.

Inheritance is (always has been) set to "none". From what you are saying through whether it is a subcategory or note makes no difference, only the "inheritance" setting. Good to know.

However, I need to say that I feel really stupid. I think I am looking for the wrong thing... in the wrong place.

I was looking for something more like a button right after the article.

So my next question (maybe better in another thread). How do I change the order of the sections after the article. Currently they are item, read count, Tags, Author, related articles, more articles in category, etc. If I want to move the "More Articles in Category" up to right after content, how would I do that?

I see the options to turn them on and off, but not order.

Again, thank you for your help.

Cheers,
Todd Williams

You need to move code around to reorder things, there is no option for that. First read getk2.org/documentation/tutorials/174-templating-with-k2-and-the-concepts-of-sub-templates . Then after you create your own K2 template override you can edit the php files and move things around. Most sections are marked with comments so you can easily spot the code blocks.
