I'm happy with k2 other than this feature being missing from the import of CSV files, they let you select a category but not a subcategory?

I think you should address this issue to the K2Import developers. We are not affiliated with this extension.

This is the site of K2. The extension you used is nor part of our extension. It might be a K2 plugin but it was developed by a 3rd party developer.
K2 only has direct import from Joomla! articles out of the box.
