I've bought a domain name, some web space, and am starting to grow into Joomla with K2, with the goal to eventually build a personal website.
I don't have any actual content yet, but still, I was already getting bombarded with fake user registrations.
I've enabled the Recaptcha thing on the K2 user registration page.
Currently, Recaptcha shows an image with a number on it.
The K2 gives as challenge text just above it: "Enter the two words you see below".
Is there any way to change that text?

You need to either use Joomla!'s reCaptcha or K2's reCaptcha.
Disable Joomla!'s reCaptcha and enable K2's reCaptcha for the registration page. The latter option is located in K2's parameters.

I've now:
- Disabled the default Joomla ReCaptcha plugin (wasn't OK)
- Double-checked if it was disabled configuration-wise as well in the default Joomla config pages (was OK)
- Double-checked if K2 ReCaptcha was enabled (was OK)
- Cleared my browser cache
- Reloaded the registration page (which I couldn't link here due to "spam attempt detected. The message has been rejected.")

The situation stays the same:

In the users component you can select None for recaptcha.
You could stop users from being manually activated and send me a link.

Went to "Users" - "User Manager" - "Options"
Chose for "Captcha" the option "-None Selected-" instead of "-Use Default-"
Didn't help though.

It seems to work fine. I registered a dummy account and got this message.

Thanks for the help so far. I might have made my initial post not clear enough.
The issue is not that the form itself isn't working, but rather that the ReCaptcha challenge text is wrong.
In the past, the captchas used to be two words, but since ReCaptcha ran out of words that needed to be digitized, they started using house numbers instead, one per challenge.
However, the challenge text above the captcha image still says: "Enter the two words you see below"
It's just a minor thing, but still irks me and I'd like to change that query to something like simply "Please solve the captcha below" or something like that.

In that case you can simply override this language sting K2_ENTER_THE_TWO_WORDS_YOU_SEE_BELOW
