I am very new to using k2.

Is it possible to have the k2 news items appear on the home page which is linked to a News area on the site. When a user clicks on the news item on the front page, they go to the News area on the site. This would be similar functionality to Joomla.

I have a teaser news article appearing on the home page, when the user clicks it then are taken to the full article which is fine; however the full article has the same style as the home page and I want the article to be associated with a News area and associated style.

I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Yes it is possible.
It has to do with your menu setup.
If the category is not mapped into a menu item, then the default menu item will be used, this is why you are seeing the item in the home page's layout.
