I have a site being hit by a fair bit of SPAM in the comments. I enabled Captcha which seemed to help a lot, but now the spam is building up again.

I want to enable Akismet. I went to akismet.com and got a API key (had to pay some money to join up).

When I put the Akismet API key into the K2 system, I see no change at all. How can I tell if it is working.

When I log into my Akismet account, it shows the current active websites using the API is zero.

So what is the correct way to set this up - I can't find much about akismet except for WP sites.

Akismet is working on the background.
It will automatically deny or mark as spam new incoming comments,

Is the site visible now in your Akismet dashboard?

No I can't get the site to show up on my akismet dashboard. And all the instructions there are for WP sites so its hard to know what to do.

Did you enter your API key into K2's settings?

Yes I sure did :)

Then it should be working.
If you see your spam comments full (instead of normal comments) this means Akismet is working fine.

I am still getting a fair bit of spam comments.

I have added captcha - recaptcha sometime ago which helped. But there are more getting through now, so that is why I am trying Akismet.

Is there another test I can perform to see if it works? Surely if it works then the website will show in my akismet control panel (it keeps reminding me to add a website!).

I am not sure what you mean by "spam comments full". I can only find comments. Many are genuine but many are from spammers too.
