I try to setup a large database with similar articles in K2. Works fine so far. I got the articles sorted in categories and show those categories with Menupoints. Right now they're sorted by date (newest first) - but I would like to have a dropdown somewhere (probably as a module) which can change the sorting-method of the shown category to different sorting methods.

Best case would be that if I change the category, the selected sorting-method chosen from the dropdown is saved.

I should specify that all categories are sub-categories which belong to one bug main-category. Maybe this information helps.

The quick way to do it would be to add a second menu item like eg:
/category/popular
or
/category/latest etc..

And have your menu point towards these items.
Now as for the <select>, you need to create an override for the menu module.
