Ajust start time for slideshow was created by Bjorn
Hi,

Is it possible to ajust the start-time for the slideshow? The loading-circle spins for a couple of seconds, and if possible it would be nice to have it start quicker.

I'm using FPSS v3.4.11 and Joomla 3.4.4.

Thank's in advance for any tips.

This has to do with the speed of your website. The slideshow starts when the slides are loaded. In general try to use smaller images or even a 5% drop in the quality of the thumbnails can make a difference.

Apologies for the late reply.

Actually, it seems like the "Transition time" setting is part of the issue. The slideshow starts depending on the time set. So it looks like it's starting with a transition effect (black slide), rather than loading and displaying the first image asap. So by reducing the time it loads faster, but the transition effect is quicker too - not optimal in other words.

The black slide is simply a loader. Once it loads it starts asap. The slideshow does not have a setting for a delay. It simply starts when the images have been loaded. The setting you are describing is the time needed to advance from one slide to another.

Granted, that would seem logical. However, when I put the transition time to zero the slideshow loads almost instantly. If I set it at 2000ms, it takes an extra two seconds to start. Could it be a configuration error, or a bug perhaps.

Hmm let's look into that.
Set the transition time to something ridiculously long.
Try setting it to 15000 or 20000ms to see if the issue persists.

Okey, set the time to 20 seconds, and it takes 20 seconds for it to start. I also disabled JCH and JotCache, but that had no effect. Could mention that I'm on IIS7.5, PHP 5.6.26 and have updated to Joomla 3.4.5.

@Bjorn

Hi,

The transition time does what it says, it affects the effect time. So actually the slide starts immediately, but since you have set the transition time to 2 seconds it will take 2 seconds to complete.

I suggest to set the transition time to something low like 500 ( remember values are in MS ) and use the Delay time option to set the pause between your slides.

Thank's for your reply. The issue here is rather that there is a black slide for n seconds before anything happens. If it's by design, it seems a bit odd. I would expect the first image to load at once (you really want the page to load and display everything as quickly as possible), and then the transition would kick in for the next images. But I can live with 500ms: the first slide loads faster although the transition time is correspondingly faster than I would have liked.
