Very slow loading pages with K2 items was created by Doug Deitel
Hi... On one of our websites we installed the Cloudhost template from Gavick using their quickstart. This template included K2. All features were working very well as we built the site. However, as we added more content we were surprised to notice some of our menu items stopped working. They began to get very slow... taking 30 seconds to more than one minute or more to load. The home page continues to load very fast and the contact page also works fast.

We tried to resolve the problem by ensuring all components and extensions were up-to-date. We upgraded Joomla to 3.4.8, upgraded the cloudhost template, re-installed K2. Problem still there.

The site is www.synapticweb.co (that ends "co" NOT "com")

Here is a summary of how each menu item works for us when we test (we always test after clearing cache - site and browser.)
Home page comes up very fast - always good.
Menu item "What We Do" (type = K2+categories) - SLOW up to 30 seconds
Menu item "Our Plans" (type = category blog) - SLOW up to 10 seconds
Menu item "Testimonials" (type = Category Blog with module displaying K2 content) - VERY SLOW up to 90 seconds!!!
Menu item "Contact Us" (type = Single Contact) - OK!
Menu items Features and Typography are from the quickstart. We leave them in for comparison for now.

We also see that elements on the home page that link to a single K2 item also load very slowly. (These are the same items that are displayed with the menu choice "What We Do" and in the sidebar module in the article form the menu item "Testimonials")

And finally, on the backend we notice it is very slow to save and close K2 items... much slower than before!

Any advice this community can offer on how to identify the problem is greatly appreciated. We have another site with a Gavick template that also uses K2 and we do not have this same problem. We posted this question in the Gavick forum and after a moderator logged in to our administrative backend he could not find anything in the template so he suggested we try K2 for support.

Thanks to all who read this message and consider our problem.

I am surprised to hear that the site seems to respond well... for me the two menu items still take 30-90 seconds to load. I must continue to pursue my investigation... if anyone happens to read this thread and cares to test I would appreciate hearing if the problem can be confirmed from other locations!

Thank you for your follow-up to my issue. However, I am happy to now report that the problem has been resolved. It was not in any way related to K2. I had installed an SEO plugin that I was unaware had been configured incorrectly. On pages with both Joomla articles and K2 items the plugin caused the slow response. I have since changed the settings and now all areas of the site perform correctly. The thread can be closed.
