json out of menu items ? was created by Adrian Harris
new to k2 and what i would like to do is create a ?format=json for the main menu, so that i can automatically drill down to categories then items via json (so that i can use the json feeds in an app)
is this possible ?

Hi,
If you mean that you need a menu link without the "format=json" which will generate K2 JSON data, then the answer is no. You will have to append the "?format=json" to the menu link.

no, i want the menu json by adding ?format=json - i'll rephrase it a bit - if i create a new menu name how do i identify its url so i can add the ?fomat=json

You can publish the menu to a module and copy the link from the front-end.

copy what link ?
ive created a new menu, assigned it the menu module and put that menu module in position (8)
the new menu module only shows in certain sections
i'm using K2 for items & cats if thats relevant ?
should the new menu be a certain type of menu link ?

i'm trying to get the menu items in json form to make drilling down to lower sub menus easier in an app :)

Once you have created the menu item, you already have the link.
That link will provide the json feeds. If you want to have direct access to them, you can create a custom link menu,paste that link and add ?format=json.

i dont want the json from the menu *item* (not initially)
i'm trying to get a json output of the actual menu listings - ie a json listing of the menu items not the contents of those menu items

This has nothing to do with K2. The menu system is part of the CMS and there is no JSON output available as far as i know.
