Hello I am trying to find a way to insert the current logged in users id into my url links to external websites. So for example I am sending users to the Boots website so that they can earn cash rewards. I am using affiliate links that track the activity but in order to track an individual user I need to insert their user id into the link as clientref= user id
Here is an example link www.awin1.com/awclick.php?mid=2676&id=111384&clickref=

I need to add the users id to the link so that their clicks are recorded by the relevant affiliate. Any help would be really appreciated.

There are two ways to approach this.

a) System plugin which manipulates all your links.
b) In your template overrides using Joomla!'s user object - docs.joomla.org/Accessing_the_current_user_object - append the URL pattern you want.
