I have a web site where I use K2 for articles and EasyBlog for blogs. I like working in the K2 back-end a lot but the one thing I am missing with K2 is that when I share a K2 Item on Facebook it does not pick up my description from the metadata.

When I share an EasyBlog post the metadata is always picked up.

For example. right now a page at www.facebook.com/lindacarneymd/

You can see that we daily submit EasyBlogs and K2 items.

The text under the picture for any K2 item always displays the title and then under the title it always says "Articles from Dr. Carney on multiple topics of health." This text comes from a category description. Is there a setting instead where I can have it pull the data from the actual K2 item metadata instead. This is what happens when I post the EasyBlog items.

Any help on this will be greatly appreciated!!!!

I am using 2.7.0 right now.

I would be using 2.7.1 except that when I installed it many of my menu items were deleted. So, I had to revert back to 2.7.0

I am using Joomla 3.6.2

All of K2's items contain the same meta description.
Are you manually entering this meta description or are you using a 3rd party extension?

Sorry for being away so long. I am actually putting the Descriptions into the Metadata Description field in K2 but that data is not picked up by facebook.

One way to test this is to use the facebook debugger to see what they are picking up. This is located here:

developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/

The put in a url like this one: www.drcarney.com/topics/item/503-do-you-know-which-foods-are-healthiest

Then they are displaying data in the og:description field that is the same on every K2 Item. It looks like maybe K2 does not by default create a og: description?

BTW, to see the way it works with my EasyBlog items you can put an easyblog url into the debugger like this one:

www.drcarney.com/blog/entry/hot-new-food-trend-is-totally-vegan-friendly

There you will see that the description field is somehow entered into the og:description field.

K2 automatically picks up either the description or the introtext.
This data has to be populated from somewhere, is it a menu item description by any chance?
