Special chars saving to db, disable convert to html entities was created by web_dev

If I save in K2 item chars like "ä, ö, ü..." then they are converted to html entities, is there possible to disable converting to html entities?

Hello, I am not sure this is possible without altering the db and possibly hacking K2.
This might end up causing more trouble.
