K2 makes backend slow was created by Uzi
Hello,
I have a website that makes use of the K2 component, with a lot of articles in it. Now when I load the admin section of the website, when I log in the page takes about 10 seconds to load the actual page, when other websites (without K2) load the admin page almost directly.
Is there anything I can do to speed up the admin pages?

Are you talking about non-K2 admin pages, the admin's front page or K2's pages?

Admin's front page and the K2 pages. For example the Menu manager and article manager from Joomla itself are lightning quick, but the front page is considerably slower. But when I open the K2 component, it seems to open a lot quicker than the frontpage but slower than the native article manager for example.

How many items are you trying to load at once?

Well on the admin dashboard there are I think 40 items (each tab) and for the item page it actually are 10 items default.

You can deactivate this module if you don't need it (the stats).
To be honest I am running K2 in multitude of servers (bad ones) for personal projects and none is slow if I am loading 100 items or less.

Yeah weird. although I have to say this K2 component is in use for over 5-6 years, with almost 10 articles every day. You could say that the database from K2 is huge. Maybe that is a culprit.
I disabled the stats and the admin frontpage is loading as fast as it should be. Thanks.

We are talking about 20K items. Not too many but an underpowered shared hosting / VPS server might be slow.

Weird. I have a dedicated server which has more than enough power and performance to keep up with the website.

I am not a sysadmin but double check your db's configuration.
An ideal setup will do wonders.
