issue with image cache size was created by serge billon (web54)
Hello
I have a site ( copy there : atrium.weblor.fr )
It is very slow and if I go in gtmetrix i can see it is due to very big images.
I can resize basic pictures,
But images in cache or media ( I suppose that this is thumb resized from original) are too big as they should : gtmetrix.com/reports/atrium.weblor.fr/1xla0Ows
For instance i have this error : atrium.weblor.fr/media/k2/items/cache/be28adfff47893c4519c1307dc6b8866_Generic.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 740x415 to 100x70. Serving a scaled image could save 291.7KiB (97% reduction).
How can I do to optimize them at a glance ?
Is the site misconfigured or is there a hack to do ?
Or a plugin to buy to avoid this issue ?
Thanks for answering
Serge

Hello Serge,
There is a free cli tool but there were some issues with it lately, these guys produce quality extensions styleware.eu/store/item/38-mass-resize-of-k2-images-including-crop

I've replied to you over email but just for reference (and for others to see), here are 3 solutions:
a) One quick way to deal with this is to adjust category and other settings to simply use a different image size (e.g. the Small or Medium size).
b) Another way is to use a script Robert Deutz wrote a while back for a project which was re-done in K2. Should work just fine: github.com/rdeutz/rebuildK2imageCache
c) If none of the above work for you or you prefer another solution, the last thing I can propose is a system plugin to pass either all or certain image sizes over some image resizing CDN like the one from Mobify. In that case, the cost for the plugin would be the amount of hours required to develop it. In that case, anyone interested can contact us from this site's contact form.
