How to remove "component/k2" from SEF URL? was created by Wire Creative
Hi,
I have two test sites with identical content. One is for testing before moving things to production and the other is for testing a new template. Neither of these sites is visible to the public. I have just updated both of these sites from Joomla 3.7.2 to 3.8.3 and K2 from 2.7.1 to 2.8.0.
We have content for one section of the site in K2.
On the plain testing site all of the K2 urls look like this:
our.domain/category/item/id-article-alias
One the template testing site, they look like this:
our.domain/component/k2/item/id-article-alias?Itemid=1068&highlight=WyJyZXBvcnRzIiwicmVwb3J0IiwicmVwb3J0ZWQiXQ==
(In both cases, the links are coming from a smart search module.)
I've checked the Joomla Global Configuration for SEF and the K2 settings for SEF on both test sites. They are identical. There is no additional SEF manager extension on either site. What else could account for this discrepancy? We'd like to maintain the pattern in the plain testing site.
Thanks, Greg.

Hello,
The difference is in the menu items. You need to map these K2 categories into menu items. This will fix the issue.
PS. The "?Itemid=1068&highlight=WyJyZXBvcnRzIiwicmVwb3J0IiwicmVwb3J0ZWQiXQ==" suffix is not there by default. It is populated by a 3rd party extension.

Yeah, I think that part is Smart Search, actually, looking for a search term to highlight.
