We had an issue where two admins were editing an article at the same time and all the edits from one were erased after the other saved. We did several tests and found that sometimes the items get checked out and sometimes they don't. We have tested the same article several times, different articles, and different user groups, but never could find any concrete answer to why items are sometimes not checked out. Can you provide any suggestions on what or how to test and fix this issue?

Where you closing the item or using the browser's button?

Yes, we always use the "Close" button in the K2 items. However, that should be irrelevant as items are not getting stuck in the checked out state. They are NOT getting checked out when you open an item.
