Using different server for the images was created by Uzi
Hello,
My website is very large with lots and lots of pictures and now I think about using another server for the images so that my website speeds up and has more room for other stuff. I am only using K2 essentially so I have to switch to another server for my K2 images. Is this a possibility?\
For example I rent an Amazon server and instead of the website server it uses this Amazon server to upload and retrieve images to. Main images and images that gets added as a gallery?

Yes,
It is possible but my advise is to hire a professional sys-admin or a devops engineer to build this setup.
You can use symlinks or your can develop a system plugin which alters the links of the images and points them to a subdomain which can be stored on S3 or a different service.
Another approach and quite possibly a cheaper one would be to use a CDN.

Thanks for replying.
I still am thinking about using Amazon S3 as my images server so that my load is spreaded. Also I am in need of more storage and Amazon is cheaper in that regard. Maybe I'll combine it with a CDN so the load times are even faster.

But do you know if Joomla / K2 supports this? Because when there is uploading of images in the administrator of the website, the image must be stored on that other server, not on the current server where the installation resides, you have any idea of that?

By default no, CDN for Joomla! offers some of this functionality but this needs to be a custom implementation.
