Disable date pages was created by George Nasis
Hallo,

I would like to know how I can disable the "date" pages.

I dont use anywhere in the site this one but on google I see tha pages of date are crawled

www.example.com/category/date/%7Byear%7D/%7Bmonth%7D/%7Bday%7D?catid=13

like this one

Can I remove all date pages?

Thank you

First, double check you don't have the K2 Tools >> Archive (option) module enabled somewhere.

Then simply add a 301 redirect for all /category/date/XYZ URLs to your homepage.

Thank you for your answer.
No I do not use anywhere the archive function.

The redirect option maybe indeed redirect all crawled pages to homepage but:

1. This does not mean that google will stop crawl the date pages
2. My site has above of 500 categories. I cannot add 500 entries/urls in .htaccess.

Can I hack somehow the core files in order to stop the creation of date pages?

1. It will. That's the point of a permanent redirect.
2. Use pattern matching. I never implied adding dozens or hundreds of URLs.

You can't hack core files to do this cause you don't need to. The entry point for these URLs is the archive option in the K2 Tools module (mod_k2_tools) or perhaps another module from a 3rd party that works similarly. Double verify it's not currently published anywhere. If it's not, the URLs may be left overs from crawling conducted in the past.

I just fininshed checking, it took me all the night. I am kidding.

No Fotis, there is not any k2 tool module with archive function. And I never used it in my site (so how the pages of date have been crawled?)

I will use redirect with pattern and I was thinking also to add some rules in robots.txt to stop future crawl for date pages.
