K2 Additional Categories Plugin was created by Red Evolution
Hey,
I realise that this is to do with a plugin that you don't build but was wondering if you could maybe pinpoint what has gone wrong. On our client site we used the K2 Additional Categories plugin (extensions.joomla.org/extension/additional-categories-for-k2/) to allow news stories to be added to more than one category. We just noticed today though that it is no longer working properly and wonder if it ties in with the latest version of K2.
The plugin still basically works, you create an article, add it to a category then scroll to a second box and add a second category. When you view the article on the frontend, it shows in the 'Published in' section that it is in more than one category. However, when viewing the main category pages, the article only shows in its main category page and not in the additional category pages.
Is it possible that something has changed within the latest version of K2 that could have caused this to stop working as I know there has been a few legacy bugs that you have been ironing out.
Thanks,
Dave

That extension is unfortunately abandoned. I even contacted the developer but never got a reply back. Last update is in 2015, so, yes, a lot has changed since then.
I highly recommend you replace it with the following:
www.web357.com/joomla-extensions/multiple-categories-for-k2
It augments K2 transparently. It does not require hacks on templates or modified K2 core files.
I have already suggested to Yiannis (owner of web357.com) a way to offer b/c for folks moving away from "Additional Categories for K2". You can always ask him if you want.

Yeah, I did wonder if it had been abandoned as I noticed it hadn't been updated in a while.
I did try installing that one but it crashes the server when enabled! We're liaising with Yiannis just now to see if he can figure out what's going on with it. It looked like it was causing a php issue though. Hopefully he can figure out what is causing the problem.
