Print button not showing in K2 article was created by Michael C. Creary
Hello,
I am using K2 with Gavickpro's Event template on this site dbjiconference.touchstoneticketing.com/
For the "Agenda" menu item I have set both the category and the item options to show the print button, but it does not appear on any page. I have changed the default template from Events to the Joomla default Protostar and the print buttom still does not show.
Am I missing something? I have very little coding knowledge so am unable to check much further.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards

If the template came with built-in overrides for K2, then elements like the print button may have been deleted overall. You should compare the files (source) at /components/com_k2/templates/default/item.php & category_item.php with (overrides) /templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/html/com_k2/default/item.php & category_item.php respectively.

Would template overrides explain why the buttons don't show up when you change the template for the menu item?

Change the template to what? And, yes, probably it's the overrides if you're "assigning" the same Joomla template...

It doesn't, to be honest. First off, this is a post for the Gavick forums as it relates to their template and overrides. Secondly, it's not that hard to pinpoint the original HTML in K2 and then copy the missing blocks inside your Gavick overrides for K2.

I came to you after posting on their forum. They suggested I use the Protostar template for the menu item to see if the button showed in a different template. They then suggested I post here since they think its a K2 problem.
To the suggestion that I copy the missing blocks, I have very little coding knowledge, it is all Greek to me.
Is there any further help you can give me. I would really appreciate it, as they have made the site live without the print buttons but still want them as soon as possible.
Regards

You can't test the default layout of K2 with Protostar because apparently the latter is deleted from your site: dbjiconference.touchstoneticketing.com/index.php/agenda-list/item/341-workshops?template=protostar
As for getting the print button or anything else from the default templates to your Gavick overrides, if you have zero knowledge of HTML, you should probably ask for paid professional help. It may be that button now, but it's only a matter of time until you hit another roadblock.
