Canonical Tags for K2 Items? was created by lianal
Hello!
I'm experiencing metadata issues with K2 items on my site. They can be fixed by adding canonical tags to each individual K2 item, but I don't see any field or place in settings to do this.
I read another post in this forum that indicated there was some auto-generated canonical setting available in K2 settings, but I have not found that. I looked in the SEO and Advanced SEF sections to no avail.
I'm running Joomla v.3.9.11 and K2 v2.9.0.
I'd rather not add another plugin to the site. How can I create canonical tags in my K2 items?
I see this is now included in all versions after K2 v.10.2. Please disregard my question - looks like I just have to update.
Thanks!

Ok, turns out I do have a question after all.
My site's K2 version is now up to date, and I've ensured absolute URL's are selected, but go to a published K2 item, no canonical tag has been generated.
Is there something I'm missing about ensuring canonical tags work? Is it possible some other plugin is interfering?
Thank you!

Ensure the relevant option under the SEO tab in K2 Settings is enabled.
If you don't see the canonical URL meta tag, then something else is stripping it off. Check if you have some other SEO or SEF extension on your Joomla site.
An actual URL would also help...

Hi Fotis,
Thanks for the reply. Our site URL that I've been checking is here: www.logic2020.com/insight/how-one-northwest-non-profit-is-changing-lives
We do have two other SEO-related plugins running (EFSEO and sh404SEF) so I can dig around in those to see if they are causing the problem.
Any other tips or guesses would be appreciated! :) Thank you.

One of these extensions is set to strip the canonical URL meta tag as I know both can manipulate it. Check their settings.
