"Comment added, awaiting approval." The problem arises here that the recipient of the comment message (email address) does not receive a notification when a comment is written. So the moderator will not find out about a new comment.
What can be the reason? I can't find any other setting options.

Emails from Joomla, Hikashop and other extensions are sent without any problems!

K2 version: 2.10.3
Mailer: PHP Mail

Although you can set this in the backend - and this function is not grayed out?

K2 has been around for a few years. And if a post is reported (e.g. as SPAM), the email notification works correctly. It can only be a bug that has not yet been fixed ...?

Are you working on the problem? Can I assume that it will be eliminated in the next K2 version?
Or can you give me a tip as to which core file would be responsible for sending - for my own experiments?

Best regards

It's not a bug. It's was just never implemented as most folks used Disqus or Facebook comments for the social integration they offer.

Reporting is a different feature and of course it works as expected.

Like I said, it's not implemented yet.

My task is a serious website for psychoanalysts - not a "social" network. Under no circumstances should any data run via Facebook, Disqus or any other - social useless - external services. These services just want to collect data to make us as transparent as possible. We should be at their mercy. This is more for inexperienced play children, bullies, haters and subversives.

In addition, the comments should also have a serious look and feel and completely dispense with gravatars (or what these funny pictures are called). It is only commented under real names.

All in all, I am very satisfied with the serious appearance that my predecessor conjured up with the help of K2 and I want to avoid having to integrate one of these typical colorful and playful comment tools at all costs.

Can I assume that the function in K2 will be upgraded soon? Or can you give me hints on how I can clone the reporting system and repurpose it to notify new comments? That can not be that hard...?

There are other priorities for sure, so I can't promise anything.

A capable dev could easily make you a plugin for that in any case, so you wouldn't need to wait for that feature to come.

I am shocked by the fact that it is a matter of course to pretend a function that doesn't even exist!

Currently I am imagining a weapons manufacturer who, even after a long development period, has not managed to integrate a working firing pin into its assault rifle. He just leaves it out for now ... and the military leadership wonders desperately why their own people are being killed by the enemy in rows. By the time they find out that a guaranteed quality does not exist, but the war is already lost.

In order to no longer mislead us K2 users, I ask the K2-devs to gray out or deactivate this function in the settings as long as it does not (yet!) Exist.

Then I know that I have to tell our moderators that they have to actively check from time to time to see if someone has posted a new comment. Of course that works too. Ease of use is an indispensable luxury. And a world with 8 billion people simply has to do without. There's no other way! There aren't enough resources ...

Oh man...

There is no setting for K2 comment notifications.

You might want to brush your English or just install a K2 language pack.

Additionally, the "drama" in your post is totally unnecessary...

Ahhh - you are right - now Ican see it!

But that was not due to my lack of English - although this deficiency actually exists (thank Google for their translator!) - and also not because many terms in the German translation of K2 are still not translated.

That was a Freudian mistake on my part.
Sorry - I am contrite! Apparently I WANT the point "Recipient of the comment message (email address)" to mean that every new comment is reported, because I know this from both vBulletin and Woltlab Suite.

But maybe my Freudian mistake can serve as a suggestion for improvement to implement this function in the future ...?

And of course: the dramatization was not necessary. But given the Corona restrictions, life has become so monotonous that a bit of drama can make it seem more alive.

I don't treat myself to anything else ... (if that's also expressed so in English)
