I have recently purchased SIGpro to integrate it on a clients website (Joomla 1.5.22). Unfortunately I'm having massive problems with the integration of Flickr Sets.

Check out this gallery:

www.stein-motorsport.de/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=118&Itemid=190

You need account information to access it (it's not public yet), but I can't post the access information here publicly. I sent you a PM with access information as Super Admin.

This is the syntax I used:
"{gallery}http://www.flickr.com/photos/stein-motorsport/sets/72157627636068559/:::::2::{/gallery}"

Of course without the "s! They are just there to make the code in this post display properly.

After you loaded it, press F5 to reload the page several times. You will see that the output is almost unpredictable. I have seen the following different results, varying unpredictably from one reload to another:
  • Only the syntax is displayed, but not the gallery
  • All pictures are displayed, with the filenames as captions despite the fact, that the Flickr caption should be displayed
  • All pictures are displayed, with the filenames as captions except the second picture from the left, where the Flickr caption is properly displayed
  • Only 9 of 12 pictures are displayed

I wanted to attach screenshots of these 4 results, but they were obviously too large. I uploaded them to Flickr instead - you can find them here:

www.flickr.com/photos/wwkoehler/sets/72157627636582899/

All pics have Flickr captions and are set to public. A gallery run from a directory on the server runs fine, but that is not an option, since editing the labels.txt file in such a syntax is only practicable for a webmaster, but not for a client. Therefore a working Flickr integration is a MUST.

I really like the concept of SIGpro and would love to use it on the website, and so does my client, but this behaviour is totally inacceptable for a live site. What is going wrong?

Please help, I'm desperate!

Will

UPDATE: After waiting for half an hour, I checked again and now it works fine. Thank god I made the screenshots or everybody would consider me being crazy or stoned :-( But nevertheless the problem existed and I would like to know what it was. (And yes, of course I cleared the cache several times before, while experiencing the problems!)

Sorry but I cannot just make a guess! However, please post again for any problem in the future.

On the 3 screenies I see, the plugin operates just fine. The screenie which displays the tag simply shows that the plugin was not published, that's all...

@Katja: I understand. The problem has not occured again since yesterday. Probably it was not even plugin-related, but caused by the  Flickr servers or the Flickr API. After all, the directory-based gallery worked fine all the time.

@Fotis: You should see 4 screenies, and since the whole difference in between the screenshots was a page reload, I disagree with you. Maybe the plugin worked just fine, but the output was definitely not fine, whatever the cause was. And of course I checked if the plugin was published, which I assure you was the case. I checked every possibility of misconfiguration coming to my mind and I ran several crosstests for about 3 hours before I posted.

I'm still confused by that really strange behaviour, but since it seems to work now, I had to put my mind to other things. If anything strange should happen again, I will take screenshots and post again. Maybe it was just the old "Ghost in the machine"  :-\

Anyway - thanks for your reply. Keep up the good work. As I said - I really like the way this plugin works and I hope you will make it more enduser-friendly in the future (e.g. an editor-plugin to generate the syntax based on an input-form and/or a component to edit the labels.txt file form-based, too). Picasa compatibility also would be a great step forward. With more functionality and usability a higher price (30-40 EUR) would be totally okay for me and my clients - you can call it SIGeasypro then and keep the "cheaper" version as a "webmaster edition". Just my 5 cents  ;)

BTW: I am planning to use the plugin on some more client websites - I assume it's a "per domain license", right? Do I have to buy one license for each client under his name separately or can I just buy e.g. 10 licenses for our (2-man) company and use them for 10 different client websites?

Thank you for your kind words and of course we will think of your suggestions for SIG PRO next versions.
According your license question:
You may use each individual product on a maximum of five (5) websites only, belonging to either you or your client.
You have to purchase the same extension again in order to use it for more than 5 websites.
