[SOLVED] No thumbnails but they are in the cache was created by Michael Barraclough
I have thumbnail text, pictures and descriptions, but I do not have any thumbnails showing.  I have checked the permissions for the cache and the administrator/cache folders and both are shown in System information as writable.  Looking at the actual folders they are 755 and the contents are 644.  The thumbnails all appear to be being created (eg jwsigpro_cache_3756d6a91a_do%20you%20take%20this%20man.jpg) but they are not being displayed in the article.

Please could someone point me in the right direction.  Thanks.

UPDATE:  I now have 5 galleries active with a total of about 25 photographs.  All the photographs and captions work but there are only 2 thumbnails showing.

You should rename your images avoiding %, caps letters etc. When you do that remember to clean your cache.

SOLVED.  Thank you.  Perhaps it would be possible to include information about the requirements for filenames in the instructions page on the web.

I had a siimilar problem. Im my case there were spaces in the file names, wich got converted do %20 in jw_sigpro cache.

As Joomla uses UTF-8 as standard and supports transliteration (havinh Unicode Aliases as an option) for SEF, wouldn't it be time for supporting spaces and accented characters on extensions too?

I think this definately should be included in documentation somwhere, at first I thought that I'm having persmission issues, but it turns out that filenames within zip containded some spaces.

Replied by Syndicate Digital Productions on topic No thumbnails but they are in the cache / Zip Way to upload images k2
I would like to suggest a FIX for this, it would be pretty easy to correct this in PHP.
Once the zip is unpacked, the filenames should be scanned for illegal characters of any
kind and renamed to _ underscores.  Then the rest of the process can continue as usual.
Lots of people FAIL to remember to do this and its a easy way to fix it.  Updates seem to take
forever or NEVER so can someone point out WHERE in the various K2 and SIGPRO code
the file is UNZIPPED and then make into cache images?  Then I can try to patch it myself at least
or some way to overcome this.

Also whille the ZIP method is handy, why can we not also just add IMAGES ONE at a time
with a standard NOT zip format.

Thanks for ANY info on where these functions are in the code of K2 / SigPro etc.
