SIGP is not finger friendly was created by Todd Lawson
I am trying to use SIGP to display Flickr photos.  The website is not (won't be in the future) addressable except with a mobile device using the app I developed.

Here is the problem:
All the settings used in "Popup engine for image galleries" work fine if you are using a mouse.  If the intended device doesn't mouse input or keyboard input (escape key for instance), it's very difficult to find a setting that will actually work on an iPad, iPhone or Android device.

For instance:
If I set it to Slimbox2, the only way to get the picture to go away is to touch the screen outside of the photo frame.  This is very unintuitive and in addition impossible if the photo takes up the whole screen.

Is there some way to fix this?

Indeed, many popups don't close by clicking on the image itself. They usually have an X or "close" button somewhere to close them.

I would recommend using PrettyBox or FancyBox which by default auto-resize the image (with HTML) to fit the browser window. So even if you're on an iPad, you can browse the images like on desktop PCs. Check this page demo.joomlaworks.net/simple-image-gallery-pro with your iPad.

For mobile phones with smaller screens compared to the iPad or other tablet devices, as you can understand, popups are not the best way to show your images. I would recommend using the "Galleria" template there which basically previews the larger image "in-place" (although if you click the large image area the popup still works - but it's easy to cut it off from the Galleria template).
