Up to three days ago, the Gallery was working properly then the following error started to appear:

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/1

Instead of the gallery display I see:

{gallery}1{/gallery}

For the record:

Name convention is correct ( image.jpg )
Above folders exist
Images exist in the folder
Folders are writable
Images were uploaded directly within the .zip file and not within a folder in a .zip

Any ideas anyone?

Taa

Hello, I have the same problem. Joomla 2.5.4, k2. When I try to upload .zip image gallery:

There was a problem rendering your image gallery. Please make sure that the folder you are using in the Simple Image Gallery Pro plugin tags exists and contains valid image files. The plugin could not locate the folder: media/k2/galleries/13

Can you help me?

No, this is not a bug!
It is either wrong permissions or wrong directory path in SIG PRO settings.

it's neither wrong permissions, nor the wrong path - both have been checked.... however, there does appear to be an issue with the file size

So, after reading a boatload of 'PM me access to your backend," I figured there must be a way to solve this on our own.

I turned on "DEBUG" as well as "ERROR REPORTING" to Maximum. I went to the problem content page on the backend. It turned out for me, that DESPITE the main cache directory being writeable--flagged as green/okay--in my directory permissions, it did NOT have full write permissions to the SUBfolder of jw_sigpro within the main cache folder. Changing the permissions on that folder to fully writeable solved my problem.

I'm concerned overall that that cache folder may expire and then I'm stuck in the same darn boat again. BECAUSE, my system was working just peachy keen for quite a while and then just stopped working. So, hopefully, that folder is permanent and changing the permissions fixes it. We'll see.

This error is because you upload the images .zip in K2 before configuring the plugin
Root folder for image galleries -> media/k2/galleries
If you do not do this before you will have error
To correct go to the image folder on the server: root/media/k2/galleries -> delete image folder you uploaded
Then go to the item you have upload image on k2, click on Image gallery tab, click in check-box for delete and click apply or save
Now upload zip image forder and save. That is it.

@tonicosta,
not always. This may be the solution in some cases. As you can see above it could be permissions issue as well.
