New sigpro install - no gallery [SOLVED] was created by johnallan
I get an Internal 500 error when prepending a '/' to both root and temp paths
Without the prepended '/' The page comes up but no thumbs. The mambot code does not appear on the page, so it is processing at least.

I have sigpro on another site that is working fine.

The free version of your gallery works fine on this new (problem) site. (of course I had to deinstall it so it wouldn't conflict with pro.

This site is on 1and1 hosting, which supplies no error logs.

GD 2 is in php.info

The link to the site is:
soulnursery.com
The gallery is supposed to be appearing at the top of the home page.

I noticed a thread regarding this exact problem from multiple customers (all also on 1and1 hosting). Unfortunately, they just thank you guys for solving the problem, but fail to say what the solution was.

Thank you,
John

Hi there!

The server crash with the use of the slash "/" on the begging of the root/temp folder?!

Really strange! First time reported a bug like this! ( I think!  :) )  :o
When you say

I noticed a thread regarding this exact problem from multiple customers

you mean in this forum?
Can you give me a direct link to this post because I'm interesting about that!

If you remove the slash the script can't find a valid path to create and save the thumbs and probably cause that you can't see any thumb...

Try to use the back slash "\" , and in general, in the script use the backslash "\" every time we use an Absolute path, not the Live path.

Thank you!

Here is the link to the thread I mentioned within this forum:
forum.joomlaworks.net/index.php?topic=1534.0

The backslashes have no affect, they result in no thumbnails being displayed (not a 500 error). So that supports your theory that removing the initial backslash simply causes the path not to be found. BTW: I'm on UNIX, not Windows.

Also BTW: There is no 'server crash' with the initial forward slash, simply a 500 error, which can't be traced because 1and1 withholds access to error_log.

Thank you,
John

The problem was that the images in the folder were too large (they were full-resolution digital images). Apparently the thumbnail generation process against these large resolution files, was exceeding a resource threshold of the 1and1 virtual server.
