I have an error that I see others had (I did search the forum) regarding temp directorys.

Here is the error:
this error occurs at the top of every page in the site.

I have created and recreated this folder numerous times (and methods: via ftp/media manager/ssh ). I have chmod ed it as well to 777. I have chowned it to be that of the website, then that of the webserver and nothing seems to solve the issue.

In the config section, I put in the full path (from the root) for the gallery folder and the same for the temp folder. Is this appropriate? It doesn't seem to work if I only give it from the root of the site itself (I get an error that it cant read that type of file, if I do).

I am using the J1.5 plugin on a RocketTheme based template.

Anyone have ideas what I am doing wrong?

About the problem of the folder try to create a new folder with a different name, as temp2 or as you want, and change the path in the config section. It's a strange method but is reported me that could be help!

If you hardlinking the thumbs in the folder, the server return any error?

Can you give me a direct link to the gallery?

Thanks. The defaults that are put in the field include a slash at the end and that is what doesn't work. The slash before the field appears to be needed otherwise I get an error (file type not supported).

I no longer get the error I posted above but I don't get a gallery either. I get nothing. It is in a document here: yfwpjoomla.iowalink.com/index.php/component/content/article/24-conferences/69-mepi-2008-march

I have tried using the default folders inside the /images/ folders for testing, nothing happens.  I must have a config issue somehow.

here is a file in the gallery: yfwpjoomla.iowalink.com/media/gallery/MEPI2008March/DSC_4918.JPG

root is set as /media/gallery
temp is set as /media/gallery/temp
page code is {gallery}MEPI2008March{/gallery}

I put a file in the temp folder by ftp:
yfwpjoomla.iowalink.com/media/gallery/temp/DSC_8599.JPG

Ideas for me?

Hmmm... You set as relative root ( etc ) path the : /media/gallery
This path is under www.iowalink.com or under yfwpjoomla.iowalink.com?
I mean, the yfwpjoomla is a subfolder of the iowalink.com before the media folder?

If you remove the SEF from the system, the plugin seems to work?

Sorry for all this questions but I try to understand what could be happened!
