Can you please check out what permissions we have at the temp folder?
Try to "chmod" it to 644 or 777.

I have the same problem and I use the Joomla FTP layer Joomla as solution to the problems of permissions... Simple Image Pro when create thumbnails not use FTP layer?

I'm afraid that this version of sig pro doesn't use the ftp layer of joomla
But we are looking for incorporate this feature to the next version.
