Too Many Images? was created by JohnGo
I have a Mambo 4.6.5 site at
www.gtgeek.com
. I just purchased SIG Pro and so far it has performed as advertised on a smaller gallery
gtgeek.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=26&Itemid=1
(Scroll down to the gallery). However, the main gallery I am trying to post has over 900 images set at 1024x768. I have it set up so it only uses one thumbnail of a gallery graphic so it isn't trying to create 900 thumbnails, but when I save my content, it doesn't display the gallery link or the image.
Is there a limitation on how many images SIG Pro can handle?
Thanks!

Also, the images are all 300-400k. So I don't think the file size should matter.
Thanks!

same problem here. It seemslike the plugin generates a thumbnail for EVERY image in the directory, even though I set it to "Single Thumbnail Display Mode".
Somebody please tell me I'm waay off the mark here. Why create so many thumbnails when 1 thumbnail for each gallery should suffice? The reason I chose single thumbnail mode is because I have numerous galleries to link to from a single page. I have dozens of pages, some with a half dozen or more galleries.
Are the thumbnails permanently stored in the temp folder? It seems that my larger galleries grind to a groaning halt if I revisit them after several hours. It's as if the thumbnails are re-created whenever I request the page.

Can't say I am impressed with this. I posted this almost 19 hours ago, and there has been no resolution. Why do we call this PRO if it is not supported? More to the point, why do we have to pay for it. If there are limitations, then make them known before I plunk down money. Don't screw with me.
I have run into this twice now, once with a template that was sold to me for Mambo from another company that sort of works, and now this.
Not too cool. ???

Ok. I am now 2 days into NOT having a functioning gallery on my site after paying for a gallery that is supposedly supported, but so far, has been anything but.
I have searched the site with no results.
I have also PM'd the tech guy. No answer.
This is ridiculous. >:(

Please, first off all, calm down.
The sig pro doesn't load the images dynamically. It doesn't use any Ajax script to load the next/previous image on demand.
The single mode just hides all the images except the first, but all the images load on DOM.
All the static script, based on "lightbox" effect need to load all the images from the begin.
It's in our plans to add more engines that use Ajax scripts for the loading
but this version of sig pro doesn't support ajax.
Thank you!

Thanks for finally answering. I am perfectly calm. I am not happy about the level of service and the fact I am now 3+ days further behind on getting my galleries up and now I have to go find another solution because yours doesn't work like I need it to, but I am very calm.
So I guess the answer is no, it doesn't do large galleries?
If that is the case, is there a magic number to break the galleries into that does work?
It would be nice if you guys put this small, yet incredibly important, detail into your sales material. I know you are trying to sell product, but if the product is bought, and then not usable to the customer, suddenly you have a customer who is going to want a refund.

Our work schedule is Mon- Fri from 9-6pm. Therefore any messages sent after 6pm on a weekday, will be received the morning after. A normal response rate is from 1 to 4 days.
In your case we received your posts on the morning of the 20th Nov and we responded on the 21st Nov, which means within ONE day. We believe that to be a very good response rate.
Regarding the features of Sig Pro, we provide everything that we mention here: www.joomlaworks.net/content/view/25/28/
Obviously everything that is not on this list is not provided (such as the fact that the gallery is not Ajax based).
We do assume that our customers would have read those features carefully before purchasing the product. Alternatively one can search for answers in our forum.
Specifically the issue of a vast number of images in one gallery has already been reported and answered in our forum.
Thank you.

Really? I searched every combination of terms I could think of to find out the answer to the question. The only posts that came up were mine. If your forum is so full of information, how about you give us a link?
There were questions about vast numbers of thumbnails being created, but not one thing regarding the number of images making the content item shut down when you are only using one thumb. It is ok, I understand if something is not going to do what I need it to do. It would just be nice if you say somewhere that a large gallery will not be supported. Sorry, but I am not a Mambo guru. You could tell me something isn't Ajax based and I still would not have a clue if it would work on my site. Speak normal, not techie. Not all of us are going to get the geek-speak.
So, I am still waiting to hear what that magic number is. In plain English.
Thank you.
