What was the issue, I have a similar problem !

on the page www.derekcrosby.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=34&Itemid=65 I have two (image) links one to a single Popup (Higher Res) from thumbnail image, and the second one down leads to a gallery that refuses to show up

@zerofeng, are you able to explain what you did to solve the issue of the thumbnails not displaying?

Hi,

before check any of the following please ensure that the thumbnail image files are created inside the cache folder (e.g. with an FTP client or through a file explorer from your hosting admin interface)

1. Check for correct permissions on the cache folder.
2. Check that you don't have an .htaccess rule (if your webserver is Apache) that prevents access to the cache folder.
