Yep as the titlke states i'm trying to find out how to actually apply sig gallery in an article..... Infact multiple articles.

Yep great on second reading it is much more clear although.....
there is one thing i was unable to understand the first time round and that is

Where and how do you insert the {gallery}summer_trip_to_italy{/gallery} in the text
is it actual text in an article within joomla or do i need to turn off the text editor and insert it into the html.............?

You can insert the code also using the editor.
But be careful!  ;)
Inside the tags {gallery}{/gallery} you must insert only the folder you want without any html tag!

So to clarify i insert the {gallery}{/gallery} into the article ?

Newbie sorry....

I've created the folder in the right place.....

I then pasted {gallery}Examplenameoffolder{/gallery} into the article ....
But it just shows up as text in the frontend...

And even when i turn off the text editer under : site tab/  user manager/ then click administrator  and goto the User Editor and in that drop down menu change to editor - no editor -- i then go back to my article and paste in the {gallery}Examplenameoffolder{/gallery}- code. All that happens is i see this on the frontend of the article also...

What am i doing wrong?

p.s if its the right place ie no editor resulting text in article.. Is there a specific area to paste it....

Well, first of all check if the plugin is published!  ;)
After, check if you have any other plugin that uses the same tag ( {gallery} ).
If you have, reorder the plugins and put the sig pro in front of all.
