Joomla vs 1.5.12
simple gallery 2.0.4

Trying to get the white box around the thumbnail image to center. Any thoughts?

Go here: www.joomlaworks.net/content/view/51/41/ and do the template override. Once you do that open the template.css and at the li.sig-block put background:none !important; and to the span.sig-link-innerwrapper add background:#fff;
