I read almost each post on the forum about the same or similar problem, but can't find solution.
My thumbnails don't show. I can see them in cache folder, and can see them putting URL of them directly in browser.
Bigger photos works well. Just thumbnails... there are no any of them.

I have:
GD Support enabled
GD Version bundled (2.0.34 compatible)

Everything looks correct, but can't see thumbnails. This going me crazy, because I have deadline for this project, and today I spent hours for this problem.

Can you check this?

Your template's CSS overwrites the plugins. You have a declaration ul li img inside your template's CSS file that has background:none; and since the thumbnails are loaded through a background image that is the reason you can't see them.

Unless you can find a way to exclude the SIG Pro CSS, let me know to post a modification :)

This is it. I just did modification, and it works.
I need to change some colors (black borders convert to pale green or so) and this will be ok.

You do not have SIG Pro. You just have SIG. The SIG is a little different. The thumbnail doesn't load as a background image but loads as an image. Have you checked that the cache folder has the appropriate permissions?

what would be the appropriate setting?

the permission settings on the cache folder is currently 755...

Make the cache folder 777 and check again.
