First, let me begin by saying that Simple Image Gallery Pro is one seriously cool piece of software. It has come a long way in a very short period of time, and does exactly what I need it to do in my site's Gallery.

But, I'm hoping it can do even more.

See "Card of the Moment" at the top of the left column? That's the default Joomla Random Image module. It's great and all, but it just displays an image... no auto-thumbnail, no pop-up engine, and no caption text.

Here's what I need to be there instead:

1) 1 thumbnail image (150x188), pulled at random from the folder of my choice.
2) Caption text under the thumbnail, somewhat like a Magic: The Gathering card . (no text above the image though, only below it)
3) MultiBox pop-up engine with caption (which it probably will use anyway, since SIG Pro is currently configured to do this on the site)
4) It can't wreck my current Galleries (that is, they must remain without captions on their thumbnails, displaying them only in the pop-up).

So, can this be done? My site visitors will be absolutely thrilled if I can implement this. :D

If the answer to this has already been posted, please direct me to it (I looked at length but didn't see one).

You can use a module that calls articles, like UCD ( www.joomlaworks.net/content/view/42/42/ ), create an article that uses SIG Pro with the single thumbnail option and captions enabled and then tell the module to show that article at any position.

So you actually would have a module with an image with caption published anywhere you want to your site.

That sounds like just what I need. :)

No I'm afraid that it only takes the first image of the folder you have set inside the {gallery} tags.

Is there code or a workaround that would allow it to pull an image at random? If not, is this a feature I can talk you into adding to SIG Pro? (preferably with a toggle in the tag like the other features?) :)

You could try the random option in ordering (inside the plugins parameters) but I'm not sure it does what you want. It will just choose one image of the whole folder and stick with that, instead of selecting the first.
If I understood correctly you want every time the page loads to see another image of the folder, right?

Right, a different image every time on page load.

I imagine this could be done with a very small bit of code in the plugin, but if I add code there, it will change how the site's Gallery is displayed as well.

Maybe someone out there has already done something like this? I'm open to suggestions. :)
