centering of thumbnails impossible - all hacks have failed - giving up was created by The 5 Syndicate
for two years now I have been scouring this forums for the hope that some bright soul might have found an easy way to center align the thumbnails
I have tried many fixes from many users,
involving switching templates css,
changing the padding to "scoot" them over
resizing my thumbs to get them to fit
but no matter what the hack is , it doesnt work for everything
(if it did then JoomlaWorks themselves would be using it)
but their demos dont align to the center either
because they cant even make their system function in this manner
and its not because they dont think its not important
every single user on this forum desires this.. as left aligned thumbs look cheap and sloppy.
a forum search of the words , center, center alignment, thumbnails, thumbs alignment
and so on
reveals hundreds of post on the subject...with 98% going unsolved....for years.
it may work in a gallery but then it wont work in a content item
or to get it to work I have to add all kinds of code tags to get it to align perfectly
then I end up spending too much time on one content item..and if you are having users do this then forget it.
its way too complicated for them
Joomlaworks has made this gallery and it defeats the whole purpose of Joomla.
it is complicated and too hard for the average user.
so I want you all to know I am giving up, I will not be using SIG Pro on any of my sites anymore.
the center alignment of images is the biggest issue for me right now
when I align my galley code in the editor
[galley] my galley[/gallery]
its should alight the thumbs..hell, it aligns anyhting contained in the editor except Sigpro.
good luck to all
if you find a fix...post it

Hi Jakobe75,
I have to say I strongly disagree. SIG Pro is the only realistic image gallery solution there is, as it can be customized indefinately and - most important of all - deployed everywhere. No other gallery solution is this flexible.
The immediate solution to the alignment issue is straight forward.
Simply always stick your gallery syntax in a <div> tag and make three CSS classes. One for left, one for center, and one for right alignment. Assign the appropriate class depending on how you want your gallery to display. Et voilá! Une galerie ajustable à votre disposition!
8)
Further styling of the layout through your CSS classes will also allow for making your designs real fancy, so while it takes some time to make it's a win/win solution.
Okay, if you have users on your site it can be challenging to educate them and make them use divs and classes. I agree. However, if you can customize things a bit yourself, may I suggest you visit AllVideos Reloaded .
This component/plugin is based upon (and inspired by) AllVideos by JoomlaWorks. It offers an editor button which you can in fact customize to allow inserting your gallery syntax, including surrounding divs, classes, etc. into your content at a single click of the mouse.
Right, this mod is not an easy thing to do, but for someone who has spent countless hours searching for a solution (like yourself... and me too) it's worth spending a few nights on if you're really that dedicated to make your users' life as easy as possible.
What more can I say. Give it a try. Or keep searching around. In my humble opinion I don't think you'll find anything to rival SIG (or AllVideos for that matter) at this point. The whole concept of it remains unmatched by any other component and/or plugin I have seen so far.
(However, if you DO find something, let me know.)
;)
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Lt. Columbo

This actually works for me:
quote:
"Add the bold section below to this line of code
li.sig-block { float:left; position:relative; left:3%; background:#fff !important; margin:5px; padding:0; }
in the template.css file in plugins/content/jw_sigpro/templates/default
Ann"
The only problem i encounter still is that my page with SIG Pro is jumping some pixels to the left in Firefox. Check it out on www.subsurface.nl - Portfolio TAB.
My other problem: in IE7 the thumbnails align in a staircase kind of way, i guess it's all CSS related. Any suggestions ? Thanks in advance.
