1. I Have Joomla 1.5.14 and SIG pro 2.0.4. 
2. The plugin is enabled pointing at images/stories.
3. Slimbox Moo tools is selected.
4. The image folder within stories is called '1'.
5. I'm referencing it through {gallery}1{/gallery}
6. And nothing appears... I also have a fresh joomla installation.

Click on 'SIG Test' to view the article with the code {gallery}1{/gallery}

Click 'K2' then 'template one' to view the k2 item with unviewable gallery.

I've wasted soo much time on trying to get my project up and running through other means.  Should I even believe in SIG PRO?  OR K2?  I wish they preformed.  My SIG PRO Plugin does not even work in content items!  Whats going on?  I know what I'm doing and can't figure it out.  I would love to see K2 working with SIG PRO as they should.  PLEASE HELP  ???

I see that the problem is located in the article view with the tags. Could you provide the exact configuration parameters you have set inside the SIG Pro plugin?

Root folder for image galleries:  images/stories
Popup engine for image galleries: slimbix (mootools)
Layout template for image galleries: default
Thumbnail viewport width: 200
Thumbnail viewport height: 160
Fit thumbnails to available viewport? no
Thumbnail image quality: 75
Display Mode: normal
Order:
Default caption (label) handling: show generic messages
Caption word limit:
Enable original image download link in the popup: yes
Load a module position in the popup:
Thumbnail cache expiration time: 120

Have you checked the folder's permissions?
Is the folder 1 located inside the images/stories folder?

I had similar problem... solution was @all small letters@... remove all Caps from image names...that worked for me  ;)
