When I write image-file-name.jpg|Photo © Name of photographer|Photo © Name of photographer the code © doesn't display right in thumbnail view (see attached file caption_thumbnail.php) but it works in popup fullsize view (see attached file caption_fullsize.png). I have saved the file as Unicode without signature. Why is this?

Try putting the character ( © ) as it is and not as html (Only for the title). Also don't forget to save the file in utf-8 encoding.
