Hello

When I click on an image from the gallery it opens really huge.  How can I reduce it by 75%?

See it here:  parlemagazine.com.previewdns.com/index.php/lifestyle/modelsphoto-shoots

I am on the latest version of Joomla and the plugin is called "Simple Image Gallery Plugin".

Thank you,
Dora

I'm pretty sure you have to produce your own maximum sized image for web viewing, for me I keep the aspect ratio and make them 640px max.  I'm a new user but currently don't see setting a max image size as an option, the cache folder only shows thumbs... so that tells me there's nothing trying to make a max image size "if" over "x" size.

I could be wrong (and hope I am)

:-)

I'm afraid that either SIG or SIG Pro cannot reduce the image dimensions, only the thumbnails, so you need to do this by yourselves.
There are numerous programs that you can make massive resize of the images.

Hi

Can you please explain what a SIG or SIG Photo is....

Also, where do I go to do this my self?
I have photoshop.  Are you saying that the thumbnail and the view image are two separate objects?

What are the dimensions of the view image and the thumbnail?

Thank you,
Dora

I can help answer a few things about images in general.

If you use photoshop you can create what's called a droplet, a little photoshop applet that you create that's programmed to do tedious tasks to one or more items automatically.

Here's a google search for Photoshop Droplets.

With Simple Image Gallery / Pro you don't have to worry about the thumbnail, just worry about the size people will see online. What I do is create max width or height images from my masters set to 640px (this gives room on screen for most people to see the other stuff in the pop-up like description etc.), then I upload those images to what will be my gallery folder /images/stories/mygallery, each folder like this will be their own 'gallery' of images, and they can all be unique based on in-line syntax.  When you implement the gallery code in your content editor and view it on a web page, thumbnails will be created for you based on your settings in the Plugin Manager and you can override those overall defaults with settings for each gallery in the editor by knowing what to type. Simple Gallery Pro Documentation

So, remember, you determine and upload the view image size, Simple Gallery Pro creates the smaller thumbnails on the fly based on settings as stated above.  The thumbnail image created on the fly by Simple Gallery Pro will be created in the /cache folder of your Joomla! site, and will be refreshed every 120 min, this can be changed in the Plugin Manager via Joomla! admin.  If you're testing and find that you need to refresh this more often, you can simply delete the cached images in the /cache folder and refresh the page where you need to see newly created thumbs.

I hope this sheds some light on things for you dtarver, this post isn't meant to replace an official answer, I'm just a new user trying to help others if I can :-)
