Hello,
I have searched on the web for days to fix this problem with no luck! On my website in German, the SIGPro works perfectly well except for the fact that the words with Umlaute (äöü) do not show correctly! Could you advise me please?

Thanks.

Save the labels.txt file in UTF-8 encoding.

How do you write the äöü characters inside the labels.txt file? Try with ä for ä, ö for ö and ü for ü.

Thanks for your reply. I tried your suggestion. It didn't work.
I am enclosing the labels.txt here. The umlaute are just typed in this file. Hope this will help.

I didn't see any umlaute inside the file. Did you try writing it as a suggested? In both ways ä and ä and save in UTF-8?

Hi

I had a similar problem (Dutch website) and found the solution based on the previous comments. I downloaded a UTF-8 capable editor (free version available at www.pspad.com/de/). Install it and start it up. Open the labels.txt file with this editor and just type the umlauts as you would normally do (and as they are in your attached labels.txt). Under the Format menu option you should choose for UTF-8. Save the file and upload it to your folder with the images. That is how I got it working today. Replacing the ü with ü does not work.

Regards

Gustele

Hi, Gustele,

Many thanks. I downloaded the editor you recommended, opened my labels.txt with German umlaute, just changed the format to UTF-8 in this editor and uploaded it to the site. Perfect! The umlaute shows up correctly on the site now. :)

The first time I did UTF-8 formatting in Notepad++ that obviously had not worked correctly!

I have been looking for weeks to find a solution for this problem and I appreciate very much your help. Many thanks also to Yiota from the joomlaworks team for her quick and indeed correct response to my posting.

Regards,
Susan
