Change Default Caption Handling - Using with K2

Hi, we're using SIGPro in conjunction with K2 for past events listings, with each event (item) having a gallery of images that is launched from a thumbnail. The plugin is currently set to "Show generic messages" for captions, and picks up the title of the item (event) as the caption for all images. This works great for MOST galleries.

But we would like to use the labels.txt file on some galleries to have unique captions for each image. I know with the stand-alone plugin, you can use a switch to override the default caption_mode when adding the {gallery} tag. But in K2, we don't have the option to add these switches, it just automatically adds the basic tag when we upload the zip file of the images.

A) Is there any way to add the custom switches in K2?

B) What happens if we change the default behavior of the plugin from "Show generic messages" to "Read contents of caption files"?
- We have over 50+ galleries already - what will the caption change to for all of these (if anything)?
- What would happen if we switched the behavior back. Would all of these existing galleries revert back to the previous behavior and captions?

It would be much more convenient to leave the default behavior for most galleries, and just override for ones where we want unique individual captions. But if this is not possible in K2, I suppose we'll have to generate 'generic' labels.txt captions for all galleries. Just want to know what to expect so we don't mess up all of the existing galleries (which are currently live). It would be great to not have to create/modify labels.txt files for over 50 current galleries if at all possible.

THANKS!

SIG PRO in K2 works as it used to be in a Joomla site...
First of all you may test the option from "Show generic messages" to "Read contents of caption files" -and the opposite-without any fear!
In your case you may select SIG PRO to "Read contents of caption files" and create the captions you want for your images as it is stated in the documentation. For the galleries you want to show generic messages you may copy the "generic" labels.

OK, thanks for the confirmation!

So, when you say "For the galleries you want to show generic messages you may copy the "generic" labels.", do you mean to manually add the default caption (in our case, the item title) to the labels.txt file of every individual gallery that we don't want custom captions on?

I'm guessing that's what we would have to do. We can do this, we just have a large number of galleries/photos we would have to go through. Then I guess it's just a small extra step each time we create a new gallery.

I sure wish we could figure out how to add the switch in K2 so we would only have to add these custom labels.txt files on the few items we want custom captions on. We may have to discuss this with the programmer who installed and set it up to see if it can be customized to allow this.

- And out of curiosity, does the default behavior of "Show generic messages" in K2 use the item's title as the caption (as ours does), or was this something our programmer customized for us? He's just real busy with other projects right now.
