I installed Simple Image Gallery for Joomla 1.5 v2.2_j1.5 to enter some photos in style slide on some items in a template themza_j15_74.
The strange thing, though, is that a known behavior that I can not explain: it creates thumbnails but if I click on one of these instead of the slideshow to open it open a new window of internet explorer (or mozilla) where it only makes me view the photo on which I clicked!
  Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

I've tested your demo site on multiple PCs with - FF3/FF4, Chrome 10, IE 7/8/9. Mac FF4/FF3, Safari (latest version) and all behave the same way. I even tried an iPhone for kicks same problem. I've even had some other developer friends try it on multiple computers and everyone gets new windows not light-boxes. I think there is a bug in this new version. Can you guys please investigate and release a new version? I see other posts in this forum with people having issues with this new version too. Didn't catch this until after I posted here

I would like to confirm the issue. SIG just installed on my site which is under development so on localhost but instead of "popups" it opens a new tab every time(tested on firefox, chrome).
On mouseover some tags are shown (your forums image folder is full so I can't attach a screenschot here).

I would love to comment and say what superb piece of free software this is but i cannot.

I have the same problem as the first poster.
The images appear as thumbnails & not very pretty either, click one and opens in a new screen for the world to download. Sounds like a glitch and not very promising to consider purchasing the pro version.

This is because of a conflict with another plugin in your site. If your site is in Joomla 1.5 I suggest you to purchase SIG PRO which has different pop up engines in order to avoid such conflicts.
