HAve this plugin installed on my local site but am having problem after problem there. Will start yet another thread on that as all the others remain unresolved. Apparantly this was "Being looked into" about a month ago but then nothing!
Any help before I give up on this plugin appreciated

I found out that 'special characters' in de filenames caused the problem.
For example; after a batch rename my files where named like:
file.jpg
file(2).jpg
file(3).jpg
... and so on...
the first file showed a correct thumbnail, the others stayed blank.
After removing the brackets ( and ) from the filenames, everthing worked fine.
So, ... remove the special characters from the filename, and hopefully it works for you too ;)
p.s. I used "1-4a rename" for the correction of all files at once :) Works great ;D

I am suffering very the same issue. I cannot view the thumbnails, but the main images are still selectable and viewable full size.
It doesn't matter how I upload the images, ie; FTP of directly using the Joomla media manager. :(
I love the simplicity of the plug-in, as it allows easy gallery creation without the need to install large scale image gallery software. I have noticed though that if i install it on some sites, that are not hosted on my providers servers, the plug-in functions as intended. So I'm equally confused, because my domain hosting company insist that it's not due to any server-side settings.
An afterthought from reading more content on this site
"Requirements auto-detect: if something is not set up properly in your site or server, preventing Simple Image Gallery Pro to operate properly, the plugin can detect any limitations and notify you accordingly."
Question 2: If the plugin can detect server side issues, nothing can usually be done about that, and the user has just spent £10.00 to find that out.
Can you not construct a test module to help users decide if their installation is going to cause issues BEFORE buying your PRO version?

I have unlocked this site for your viewing, it is still in development and must be relocked as soon as possible
Navigate to the Galleries link in the resources menu for the demo gallery, the images are a bit large but it's the same regardless of image sizes.

Your Simple images gallery and Image gallery Pro plugins are NOT COMPATIBLE with PHP v5.3
Many hosting companies have recently upgraded to PHP 5.3 including my hosting company, as a result a number of older faithful scripts have developed errors or failed to work at all now. and the software companies are not re-modelling their scripts to accommodate the new PHP 5.3.
I run a number of websites where I have installed such affected scripts/modules, many of which have become non-functional, or have developed error messages since my hosts rolled out the new PHP 5.3 infrastructure.
There is NO other answer to remedy this situation other than completely REWRITE your plug-ins to work on PHP 5.3

Katia i was wondering if you would mind taking a look at my website because i'm having the blank thumbnail problem but clicking these blank thumbnails works just as it should showing in lightbox. I also tried PPGallery with the exact same problem.
I downloaded both these yesterday, yours being the first i tried. I am using Joomla 1.7.3 and rochen as web host. the cache folder has the thumbnails generated so I just don't get the problem.

Provide me with a link to your gallery page please.

I just recieved this reply from the rochen support "you should re-check your .htaccess file, it sounds like you're blocking the thumbnails if you're storing them in the /cache directory (which isn't meant to be publicly accessible), thank you."

Hi Katia. did you have a look at the gallery? I opened the htaccess file in notepad but I'm not sure what to look for if that is indeed what is causing the thumbnail problem.

Check this post to verify that your cache is writable:

I used the admin tool to reset permissions even tho i don't think that's the problem since the cache folder is populated with thumbnails, see screen shot. Regarding step 2 I mailed the web host about it. They have stated that the cache folder is not meant to be public and that it might be a problem with my .htaccess file. What do you think?

It appears that you are the person to go to to remedy this problem. I also, am having issues with my thumbnails showing. Let me know what you need from me...
