I changed the call to JParameter JRegistry and it worked.

That is cool. i did that and worked with me as well.

I had to change the <install></install> tag in xml file to <extension></extension> for Joomla 3.0 to recognize the installation package first.

Now i am wondering where to select the defult gallery template  :P
