Is there any work being done to release a Joomla 3.0 version of SIG? If so, when will it be released?

We will release updates but we cannot provide you with a fixed date.

New version 3.0.0 just released: forum.joomlaworks.net/extension-updates/may-27th-2013-simple-image-gallery-v3-0-0/

Fully compatible with Joomla! versions 1.5 to 3.1 :)
