I am facing the same problem with SIG Version 3.0.0
I have enabled the plugin, checked the rights to my folde and images inside but still nothing.
I have set the root folder to images at the plugin config. I have a folder named photog in the images folder and when inserting the code {gallery}photog{/gallery} to an article I have made I get the error that there is no such folder.
Here is my url:
argolidaexpo.gr/index.php/photo

my entire folder path is argolidaexpo.gr/images/photog
{gallery}photog{/gallery}
is the text I have in the article
and in the plugin config I have images as root folder
docs.google.com/file/d/0B4wxEQ6Do659MDlIWmJfbjQyRE0/edit?usp=sharing
Also folder and images rights are checked and are 755 to all.
Ps you are Greek, is this a Greek company?

that was the problem!!!You had a misconfiguration of your path information in your database for that images folder. It was not permissions related.

So I tried another gallery and it didn't work out. So I disabled SIG (I know what that means now) and downloaded the latest version (for Joomla 2.5) and installed that into my Joomla. Please help! I have spent HOURS on something that seems like it is supposed to be so simple.
If I am in the Joomla media manager, is that considered to be a folder called images?
Once I have installed the extension, what steps exactly do I have to take to activate it? Do I have to set permissions somewhere? I can't find any information online that just tells me step-by-step "here's how to set up this extension."
I feel like it must be just a problem with the path, but I am going around in circles!
But regardless, why does it actually show the shortcode on the page? If it's not working, shouldn't that still not show if it's a shortcode? I've tried placing it in the html window but it still shows.
:'(
