SPPB does not render content plugins (it's a big WTF in the SPPB community as far as I understand). You need to place a Custom HTML module where you want your gallery to appear, enable the "prepare content" option in the advanced tab of the module options and finally insert your gallery tags in the module's editor.

So it's really a SPPB issue...
