I've installed simple gallery plugin and everything works except for the thumbnails (they are not displayed).

i seem to be having the same problem, permissions are fine on the showthumb.php  file and GD library is running.

thumbs dont show, but the larger images do
you can see the little white squares that should be thumbs

thought i would leave more info :)

using joomla 1.5.14 with legacy

Do you have the appropriate permissions to the cache folder?

hi yiota, i do not have my joomla cache on, would that still make a difference?
the permissions are set to 777 for the cache folder

Have you cheched that the cache folder has the appropriate permissions?

yes, i've check every folder with cache name, and set 777 and 755 but, nothing change
also i've change the image folder to 777

I am having the same problem. Tiny white squares are whown where the thumbnails should be. Otherwise SIG works, i.e. clicking the little squares produces the correct effect (lightbox).

I don't think this is related to GD or permissions, because I am seeing the same exect problem on two installs: on my local XP box (with Apache), and on my hosting provider's Unix site. In both cases PHP reports that GD is available, and on Windows file permissions don't really exist. On both setups I'm getting the white squares, no thumbs.

On edit: I am using a RocketTheme template, but the template is not the source of the problem, either. I've just tried, and on a core Joomla install with only the default template thumbnails do not show, either.

Another edit: In the above attempts I was using png files only. As soon as I put a JPG in the folder, its thumbnail appeared. Does SIG not support PNG images? I really need to use pngs, since jpegs are not quite suitable for software screenshots.
