Can't get images into the article was created by hanwall

When I try to insert images in articles with simple gallery the only thing I get back is the text string. What am I doing wrong??

Sometimes the string isn't showing either?

Do you have GD Library installed?
Cause you should...

I don't think I have that. I'll try with installing GD and then I come back to tell you the outcome...

Okay.. This surely sounds nerdy but now I have trouble installing GD? I get the message that Joomla can't find any XML-file.. Don't know what I'm doing wrong at all anymore.

Help!

Is this even the right file? gd-2.0.36RC1.tar.gz? I have also tried 2.0.35...

God bless usual, simple, clear HTML and Dreamweaver ;)

Now I have talked to my hosting company and they says that GD Library is included and working just fine on the server. Any other tips why the plugin wont work??
