SIG supported image resolutions. was created by raidscsi
What are the maximum image resolutions supported by SIG? I am having problems with images as small as 2592x1728.  I would like to be able to post my full size of 5184x3456.  Does SIG or SIG Pro support actual thumbnails?  It appears that it only shows a resized version of the image not an actual thumbnail.

A single 3 image gallery of 2592x1728 size images pretty much shows that SIG does not create thumbnails.

Also interesting to note that now I cannot get any thumbnails to work at all.  Tiny white boxes that load the image when clicked....

Please rename your images avoiding capital letters, gaps, dashes etc in their names. Then clean your cashe. Probably after that the thumbnails will be ok.

2592x1728 DOES NOT WORK
drewhawkins.com/images/stories/blog/photography/HDR/1/IMG_7424_HDR.jpg

640x427 WORKS JUST FINE

What would capital letters and underscores have to do with the thumbnails not working? Similarly name smaller resolution images work perfectly.

According to www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1738.txt all of the following are acceptable characters for a URL.

a-z A-Z 0-9 and /~*?.,;:-%=_$s&'"@!)(][+

So back to my question; What image resolution limit does SIG have?  Does SIG Pro not have a limit?

I also realize that this may have nothing to do with SIG.  Is this a limit with PHP or whatever module that SIG uses to make the thumbnails?

This link is proof that resolution/file size alone breaks the thumbnails.

Does anyone have a Yes/No on this?  Does SIG support resolutions above 1024x768?  Is this SIG or some PHP module?  Can it be fixed? If I buy the pro version is there some form of actual support?

I sent you a PM with the information.  Anyone else have a suggestion for a thumbnail/gallery. I hear good things about the phoca gallery.

Phoca Gallery also has the same problems with the same images. I imagine its a PHP problem.  1and1 forces linux hosted webpages to use PHP4, you can override this to PHP 5 but I'm not sure if this will fix the problem. I am not sure what versions of GD or ImageMagick that I have running on my main site.

I still plan on using SIG as it's the best in article gallery plugin made. Simple and works. Just doesn't do thumbnails for full size images(2500x2500 or bigger).

When I did a search for my problem I found several others who were looking for a more featured gallery program.  gallery.menalto.com/ is absolutely the best. See here for example.--> gallery.drewhawkins.com It creates small and medium thumbs and allows for full size downloads.  Lots of settings and extras. However it is very complex compared to SIG and is not a direct competitor or a software you can do a direct comparison with.  Gallery3 needs a MySQL database and PHP5+.

There are several bridge modules that allow you to insert Gallery albums into Joomla articles. I have not used them yet.

I have a 92 Megapixel panoramic shot that Gallery3 made thumbnails for without any problems.
